Welcome shoppers back to brick-and-mortar stores

Frasers Budgen’s is a company owned by the Fraser family and run by two cousins, Jonathan and Nick. They own 5 award winning petrol forecourt sites with Budgen’s stores attached to them.

Following the changes in shopper habits throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that basket spend has increased, largely due to increased sales in fresh produce. Equally with wages and rates increasing, the benefits of shelf merchandising and automation are becoming more obvious.

With this in mind, the Fraser’s were interested to see what products HL display could offer that can help them to reduce the time spent on merchandising highly shopped areas of the store, as well as help to display and increase sales of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Sigma for fresh produce

We have begun by installing our Award-winning SigmaTM system into the chilled fresh zone, and our complimenting FreshCaseTM solution into the ambient fresh zone. These systems not only help the produce to stand out more, but they help to manage the volume of stock which in turn helps reduce waste. These among many other benefits such as easy cleaning, adjustable shelves and increased range capacity have transformed the look and feel within this category.

FreshCase, Ambient shelf for fresh produce

Additionally, we installed FacerTM into both their chilled and ambient wine, and beverage pushers into the soft drinks, both highly shopped areas of the store.

The systems will be measured and analysed to check if it is something they will roll out into the Fraser’s other Budgen’s stores. Also, other areas of the store are being assessed to see where shelf automation can drive in savings on time, as well as increased sales due to better product presentation.
